ICAR-SBI’s ‘Scheduled Tribe Component’ project recognized by Salem admn



ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore, has implemented the ‘Development Action Plan for Scheduled Tribe Component’ (DAPSTC) project successfully  among the tribals belonging to five tribal settlements of Salem district of Tamil Nadu, during 2023-24.
Recognizing the efforts of ICAR-SBI towards enhancing the quality of life of the tribals in the district, Dr. R.Brindhadevi, District Collector of Salem presented a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ to Dr. D. Puthira Prathap, Principal Scientist & Nodal Officer of DAPSTC project, ICAR- Sugarcane Breeding Institute, during the Republic Day Ceremony held at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium in Salem on Jan 26.
Dr. P. Govindaraj , Director, ICAR-SBI appreciated the DAPSTC team comprising D.Puthira Prathap, K. Mohanraj, R. Gopi, P. Geetha, S.B.Baburaj, B.V.Santhosh, M.B.Medegar, R.Raja, V.V.Galagali and R. Sekar for effectively assessing the needs of the tribals and conducting awareness and training campaigns in Salem district.
The tribal sugarcane farmers of Molayanoor & Vilampatti and the tribal millet farmers of Thaloor , Valoothu and Pallikkadu were highly benefitted by the Institute’s interventions, he added.
